HNC Portrait Day

For the HNC portrait day I photographed Megan. I enjoyed this as being in separate classes we haven't worked together before and it was exciting working with someone new.

For she shoot Megan wanted me to use the split technique so I made sure to have the lighting set up ready for her shoot.

During the shoot I made sure to keep showing Megan the photos so that I could get feedback on what she liked and disliked about them. We started the shoot having me facing directly at the camera in order to get an effective split effect on her face. However this was not the look she was wanting so we then tired some with her facing away form the camera:

After showing her both sets of photos she decided that she preferred the ones facing away form the camera but wanted to have some more taken so that she could change her facial expression to create a warmer mood to the images. Below are the final images that both Megan and I were happy with.

For the HNC Portrait day the person taking my portrait was Norbert. Being the client was a valuable experience as it helped me understand how to make my clients feel more comfortable when I am the photographer. For example, when I was the client, I was constantly curious as to what the pictures were looking like and I therefore know that when being the photographer, I should be showing the client the pictures in order to clarify that you are getting what they want. It can also be useful in order to generate ideas on how to make the images better.

Another thing I found when being the client was that I wasn't really sure what to do and I was very thankful that Norbert was organised and had ideas about how he wanted me to sit and where to look. This is something I need to improve to as a photographer as often I am unsure about how to pose people. However I need to to his so that my clients don't feel uncomfortable.

Below are the pictures Norbert sent to me and I was really pleased with the results.
